      Really good with working around my schedule. Really bad at communicating what they actually want. I had the first interview with their recruiter which went well. She was kind and made it clear that the role is DevOps. Got into the second interview which completely caught me off guard. Previously all DevOps interviews I have attended were based around automation, CI/CD, architecture, scripting... not this one, he fired off long winded questions at me that were all SRE based. Skip to the end of the interview and he wants to reschedule the interview. Odd but ok. I told him at that point if he doesn't think I would be a good fit we could just let it go but no, we set up an interview. I ended up being very ill so it got moved by a couple of weeks. Skip to today, I get into the interview and start talking with him. He starts asking questions about my SRE experience, which is very limited by the way, hence I didn't apply for an SRE role. By the end of it he finally mentions that the position is to take up leadership of one of the devops team. Not in the JD at all. At this point I told him it wasn't in my comfort range and he basically had a "duh I know that" moment. What I didn't love was that I feel like the JD was not accurate. I did reach out to the recruiter and let her know this though. I feel bad for waisting the interviewers time, but also I am irritated that they waisted MY time. TWICE. If you go through the interview process with this company make sure to find out at the start of the interview EXACTLY what they are expecting from this role.

      Question 1

      This was their only actual IaC question. They had me share my screen and had this written at the top of a document they sent me. They wanted to me write out the terraform on the doc: create an iam user module in TF. the module must associate the policy "ReadOnly to the user by default in case a custom policy is required. the permissions sets and policy name must be passed along as a variable. this would create the custom inline policy and associate it with the iam user instead of the default policy

      This was asked verbally and might be slightly off. He spoke extremely fast. "say you have 2 vpcs, one has a private subnetwork with an rds db. The other has multiple private subnetworks and spins up ec2 instances using autoscaling. For x amount of instances spun up y amount of them failed to spin up because they receive a jdbc time out error

      The job description that was shared did not align with the interview discussion. While the role was defined for candidates with 3–5 years of experience, the interview questions were geared toward someone with 10–12 years of senior-level expertise. This mismatch created an inconsistent assessment experience.

      They also asked about system scheduling in Linux, which again aligns more with senior-level operational expertise than with the 3–5 years of experience outlined in the job description. The level of depth expected during the interview didn’t match the stated requirements for the role.
