I was referred to apply and interview for the SDR role.
In the beginning of the interview process I thought that this was one of the best candidate experiences that I have had so far. The recruiter was incredibly available to answer any questions and I felt supported by her throughout the process. Additionally she did a great job providing timely updates around next steps, which was much appreciated.
I completed a presentation that had two parts. One - sharing about myself and why I would be a good fit for the role. Two - a sample email to a prospective client. I received good feedback and loved how during my interview process the SDR manager and director gave feedback and asked questions stimulating an objection. Seem like great people to work for!
Following that I met with 3 other people on the team. Everyone that I met with during this round of my interview process was super positive, asked pretty standard SDR interview questions, and spoke very highly of the SDR team. Felt like this was a team that I wanted to be apart of.
After this round I chatted with Carlos, the CRO. I was told this would be a chat where I could ask him questions, so I expected this conversation to be pretty informal. I had to chat with him a second time and was told to prepare amazing questions and a close this time around. Then I got on the call and Carlos asked me all the questions about my background, so felt much more like an interview. Seems like there was some misalignment here with the team. I had prepared questions for this chat, but was happy to share more on my background. I did feel like this was redundant though as I had already reviewed this in the previous step. Seems Carlos didn’t trust his team and the people he hired to evaluate. As I was sharing my answers I didn't feel like Carlos was listening to me, as he continued to cut me off.
I did not get the job because Carlos felt like I didn't have a clear career path. This was unfortunate as I felt misunderstood and I wasn't given the opportunity to explain myself in more detail about my thoughts for my next role. I feel like because the SDR role is an entry level position candidates should be able to talk openly about their thoughts and what they're thinking for the next role. Of course I’d like to be AE, but I didn’t see myself being AE for the next 10 years. This was frustrating given the fact that Carlos shared with me he resonates most strongly with "transparency" as his core value.
Incredibly bummed to not get the role as I feel everything I shared was spot on for a strong SDR. Unfortunate that it seems like Carlos is the ultimate decision maker for an entry level role. Felt like a waste of time, but overall everyone else I met with was GREAT!!

Not the company to work for. Office is appalling and the sales team appeared to be in disarray at the office. Management didn't understand their own headcount and has a pause on hiring. 4 rounds of interviews. 1st is recruiter screen, 2nd is the interview with the hiring manager. 3rd is an interview with a current SDR at Navan/director of sales back to back, 4th interview is a slide deck presentation.
