First I submitted my resume on Monster, and received an email from the PI inviting me to an interview. He interviewed me, asked general questions, but seemed to suggest that my recommendations were very strong and I was much better qualified than other applicants. After two more weeks, I was directed to interview with HR, which was more procedural than anything.

Was contacted for brief phone interview. PI was respectful during in person interview. Thoroughly explained the role. Asked standard interview questions, including what technical skills can you contribute to the laboratory?
