I have constantly applied for Next positions; have passed the online assessments and can never make it to the interview stage. I find this difficult to comprehend as to why this is, and the only logical explanation I can conclude is that they discriminate against my age bracket. Why do I think this? I think this because I have extensive experience in fashion retail, even shown the initiative to lead by example through exceptional customer service. Whenever I have applied to Next, they haven't asked for a copy of my CV or Cover Letter, only information regarding my age, gender, ethnicity and race. So, this justifies my conclusion that they base their recruitment process on the price they have to pay for an individual as opposed to their credentials for the job! As I am now in the 25+ bracket, they're required to pay £7.20 per hour, which seems too much for them to pay someone as experienced and skilled as me. I won't ever be applying to Next again, and I will be cancelling any Next accounts which I have opened in the past and also will not be gracing them with my custom anymore. I hope you enjoy your cheap labour, and maybe re-consider your recruitment process and who is behind this way of hiring, because it is disgusting.
