The interview process itself was good but they asked you to attend in person. I had to take time off from work and travelled an hour on the train with two transfers.
There were three people on the panel: the direct line manager who got promoted from the advertised job, her Manager who chairs the panel and an external staff. Each took turns to ask questions, but the two younger staff always looked at the chair for any approval before they confirmed that they were happy with my answers. That is when I realised that the panel is highly biased: the chair decided everything. When she called me two days later to let me know that I was not successful, I found out they only interviewed 3 people and the offer was made to an internal staff who was already working in the team.
This is another "compliance driven interview" for an internal promotion. Very disappointing.
