For an Entry level position, the interview process was way too long. The first round was a call with HR which was majorly about my background and experience. The second round was a call with the hiring manager focused on technical questions on SQL, Excel, and my projects. I did exceptionally well in the second round answered all the technical questions. Frankly, I was expecting an offer after the second round but to my surprise, they called me for a third round which was an on-site interview. I was told I would be meeting the hiring manager, VP, and the HR. I Reached on time and first met the HR, then the Hiring manager who asked me technical questions which were pretty much same as the phone call. I then met the VP who asked my questions about my background and also few technical questions. This is not where the interview ended, I then had one more round with another employee focused on my background. Overall the interview went on for One n half hour.
After the third on-site interview, i was expecting an offer as I answered all their questions and my skill sets exactly matched to what they were looking for. I followed up after two days and was shocked to see the reply that they want me to come again for more round in which they would give me the assignment to do. I reached before time and was asked to wait. Later on, the hiring manager came and explained me the assignment which was just a basic assignment in Excel. I did the assignment and left.
I was confident that I would get an offer as the assignment was just a basic one. When I followed up with the HR she said they proceeded with another candidate.
After giving 4 rounds (2 phone screen, 2 on-site) and going through the whole process for weeks that too for an entry level position, where your sure that you gave your best and did the assignment completely right you expect an offer. But with this company you cannot be certain. I feel they just wanted some reason to not hire and that is where you would have the last round which is just a basic excel assignment. I am pretty much sure that they must have decided by the third round that they do not want to hire me for whatever reasons but they still conducted the fourth round so that they could say that i didn't perform well in the assignment. They wasted my time as i had to travel all the way long to their office.
The whole interview process is tiring and time-consuming. In case, they call you for fourth round after having two technical rounds there is definitely something fishy.
