They had no respect for my current place of work or my personal commitments. I had a very important launch at my previous place of employment and a lot was riding on me so I needed to complete my 30 days of notice period (which isn't a lot) to help them through. They wanted me to start work next Monday (5 days after the interview) and quit my job of 3+ years overnight with no regard. They also dismissed the fact that I needed at least 4-5 days off before I could begin working with them because my pet needed surgery. They made it sound like they were doing me. favour by offering the position. Next day their HR reached out with salary despite me refusing the offer, and it was overall a very disrespectful experience. They also implied that they practically 'lived' at work and that was a privilege. For me, work is part of life, but work isn't life. From what I heard later, it was a good decision to skip that lucrative salary bump by trusting my instinct.
