J'ai passé un entretien chez McMaster-Carr

      Entretien

I first had a phone interview and then was invited to come to the warehouse for a full interview day. The day started off with a tour of the warehouse during which the person leading the tour asked a few questions, e.g. Why do you think we station our best people at this part of the warehouse, How do you think we organize the warehouse. Next was a one-on-one interview with a manager there. He mostly asked questions about my resume and goals. He didn't seem too pleased to have to be interviewing me - showed up 10 minutes late, ended the interview 20 minutes early, and definitely had an attitude and generally gave off the impression that he didn't think I was worthy of the job right from the get-go. Next I was taken for an "informal lunch" in the cafeteria by two younger managers who were nice and seemed genuine - probably got the best information about what it was like to work there out of them. The day then ended with another interview by a manager there. It was incredibly strained, and he didn't really seem to have any questions for me at all. He asked me what I didn't like about their catalogue and how I saw myself changing McMaster-Carr - strange questions that I didn't really know how to answer given that I had been there all of 3 hours. Beyond that we just talked about my undergraduate senior thesis.

Made it past phone call screening and had a one-on-one chat with a current manager before final round of interviews. Each round was 45 minutes to an hour long and questions were difficult. Have lots of examples ready. Have different answers ready for similar questions.

The interview process was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. I really appreciated that the discussions were fully behavioral, allowing me to naturally draw on my past experiences. Furthermore, the company truly goes out of its way to treat you like a VIP throughout the entire visit, covering a remarkably nice hotel stay and providing a generous stipend to ensure you are completely comfortable.

One behavioral interview with a recruiter and then a day-long onsite interview at the Elmhurst IL location. Superday has two behavioral interviews, walkarounds and more but feels like you're being observed everyday.
