J'ai passé un entretien chez Matador Resources (Dallas, TX)
Entretien
Easily the worst interview process I have ever been a part of. I got an offer but the process was such a mess that I realized this is not a company I would want to work for. I came in to the Dallas office for a job interview for a production engineer position in Dallas. The interview process lasted all day from 8:00-6:00. Met with individuals and groups from different parts of the company. Most people were pleasant to deal with but overall seemed to be a cocky attitude of we're better than everyone else. Second to last meeting was with an outside recruiter they brought in. It was around 4:00 already and I had to sit and wait for 45 minutes because he was talking to the CEO. The recruiter was miserable to be interviewed by, came across as very arrogant and cold. Just asked questions and took notes, hardly looked at me. I don't know if this was an intimidation tactic or something but was not impressed. Last part of the interview was meeting with the CEO Joe. All day long employees talked about Joe as if they were scared of him and he was some sort of dictator. When I met with him he had a very quirky personality and seemed pretty manipulative. After being there for 9 hours, he switched my offer to starting out in Artesia, NM instead of Dallas. I would have considered this if they would have given me a timeframe for starting in Artesia but they were very vague. I had already been misled and almost no one at the company had followed through on their word so I had no trust in the company at this point. Took over a month of back and forth for them to provide an offer after the interview. Joe found out I was getting an MBA and didn't like that because it made me to "marketable", so much for valuing employee improvement. I turned down the offer because of how poorly I was treated during the interview process. If they treat people this poorly when they are trying to get them to come work there, I can't imagine how employees are treated. I met some people I respected and would have enjoyed working with but it would not be worth it based on the impression I got about the culture created by the CEO. Gain some humility, care about your employees development, and start treating people like they matter.
