I was an internal candidate recommended by the person who was vacating this position, whom I had also worked with on a number of projects in the past and who was familiar with my abilities and skill set. The panel of people who I met with were relatively new to the department and had never had the opportunity to work with me before. The interview was panel-style and each of the members of the panel had a 2-page list of very specific (almost TOO specific) and multifaceted questions that I found very difficult to answer on-the-fly without giving them some amount of time and/or consideration to answer.
