Interviewed with Mars about three weeks ago for a social media strategist role. The hiring manager was friendly but the other individual interviewing was a little rude. The actual interview wasn't long as it was only one 1.5hrs. There was also a writing exercise and presentation that was expected to take place. It took forever for the team to reach out for a phone screen, approximately 5 months from the time the job was posted to actual interviews which is excessively long.
During my interview I felt like the team has some unrealistic expectations of who they would want to fill this role, the salary for the position was 58k so understandably someone taking this role on would need a little training. But they seemed to want someone with 6+ years of experience with big brands while offering a salary under 60k with no bonus. Considering the salary and this being marketed as a entry level position I was kind of surprised to hear about them wanting someone with significantly more work experience than what was listed in the job description.
Ultimately I did not have the years of experience they were looking for being a fresh grad. Received a follow-up from the recruiter who was very nice stating that no one out of the 5+ people who were interviewed was a fit and that they would continue the search. It seems like they want someone with a lot of experience for the price of an entry level candidate, which explains why this job has been open for such a long time. I still think this is a great company working on awesome products, just feel like this team might not be the greatest representation of the brand
