The overall process was fairly straightforward.
1. Screened by HR to ensure background and fit are good via phone.
2. Initial conversation with senior management to discuss background via phone. Conversation was fluid, did not ask about resume. Moments of rapid fire questioning. Little to no interest in personal life or career aspirations. Asked very technical questions about work and questions about current projects.
3. In-person interview with an MD and two managers. HR provided the business case 4-5 days prior to the interview. Little to no context on preparation. Recruiter also did not provide much detail or information. Overall time for the interview was 90 minutes. 30 min for resume review, 30 min for case, and 30 min of Q&A. My impression of the interview was that it was not very fluid. The interviewers did not seem to be prepared - felt very unorganized. Their process of getting to know me felt more like an interrogation than a genuine interest conversation.
The feedback I received was absolutely in line with how the interview went. Questions solely focused on technical skills and deep probing of design exercises do not correlate to a persons leadership style.
In closing, their group interview process needs some refining. One of the interviewers was typing furiously (very distracting and unnecessary) during the entire interview. At one point, I asked the two Managers a question about culture and they immediately turned to the MD, I presume to make sure it was okay for them to answer. That was an immediate red flag. I wish them the best of luck in expanding.
