The overall interview process and (lack of) follow-up communication was very disrespectful as a professional with 16 years of experience.
Local Matters appears to be incredibly disorganized and key employees are overworked and unmotivated. They have had nearly a 50% turnover in their staff within the past 8-10 months and have a new CEO who has yet to establish a direction or strategy for the company. Multiple employees during the interview process expressed either lack of confidence in upper management, or a "who knows, we'll just have to wait and see" mentality.
Local Matters recruited me directly. The Global Director of HR, called me on a Monday afternoon and asked if I could come in for a 3+ hour in-person interview on Wednesday morning; they needed to "act fast and hire immediately."
After 3 hours of positive interviews, met with HR admin who went over company benefit packages and options. Was then told it "might take a few days to put together an official offer." Contacted by HR admin later that afternoon and asked to come in again the next day for another set of interviews (which would last another 3+ hours) and told to "bring in a demonstration of my work."
Prepared and presented a thorough demonstration of what I had done for the previous 3 years to a pair of passionless employees who admitted they were overworked and unchallenged in their jobs. This was followed by a long meeting with two executive directors. Or, it was supposed to be. The Creative Director had to back out due to a work overload crisis with a client. Had a long and extremely positive conversation with the Director of Engineering (my second interview with him), who verbally told me I should expect an offer. He also stated that they needed someone "immediately" and asked that I give the company "a few days to assemble an official offer."
Four business days later, after hearing no response at all -- not even to any thank-you emails I had sent -- I attempted to follow up on status. Phone calls and emails went unanswered for two weeks. In third week was finally informed by HR admin that "the entire team was very impressed, but it's not a good fit at this time."
