Disappointing interview process for a web developer role. The first stage was a generic “IQ-style” aptitude test full of abstract logic puzzles that had little to do with actual software engineering or day-to-day web development.
Beyond being irrelevant, these tests are also not particularly accessible and tend to favour a narrow type of test-taker rather than people with real practical experience, creativity, communication skills, or strong engineering judgement. It felt outdated, impersonal, and like a poor way to evaluate developers in 2026.
