      Entretien

I saw the position posted online and applied. The internal recruiter reached out to me to schedule a initial phone interview. The internal recruiter was really nice and friendly, asked me about my background and gave me an in depth view of what the position was and what they were looking for. He said he was going to meet with the CFO and get back to me on whether they wanted to set up a phone interview with him for the following week. He scheduled a phone interview with the CFO for 15 minutes, which I thought was pretty short but figured I just had to make a great impression more quickly. This is where it all went downhill. The CFO called me and it was apparent that he was in his car or walking down the street as it was so loud and I could hear horns honking and turn signals on and so many noises. He claimed he didn't have my resume in front of him so he wanted me to go over it for him. This was disappointing to me in that he was obviously distracted and also was not taking any notes for reference later. He asked me questions about my experience in deep detail, then let me ask one question. As he was finishing answering my one question he made sure to wrap up the interview without allowing me to ask anything else. He said that they would make a decision of who they were bringing in to interview onsite and then the recruiter would get back to me within a week. Total "interview" time? 13 minutes. I knew by the end of that call that he was not interested in me and I could guarantee I wouldn't be getting a call back for the onsite, however what really blew my mind was the fact that he didn't even seem like he was ever interested in me for the position so I'm not sure why the call even took place. I received the "thanks but we are moving on with other candidates" email a week later. It seems like a great company with a lot of potential but its important to remember its a two way street. Candidates take the time to research the company and the products and think of not only how they can contribute in the short term but also the long. It would be decent to extend them the same respect and not waste their time if you are not interested in hiring them.
