I applied on-line. Not sure where I first saw the ad. They wanted persons who have worked as CRCs or research nurses, especially in Oncology, but said they would consider other therapeutic areas and other means of having 2 years experience, including technical writing, which I have. I have a deep background in basic research and easily understand oncology, have assisted CRCs in a different treatment area, and have worked as a CTA, and a bunch of other education in clinical research and such. I got a request about 2 days or less after I applied asking for a phone screen, which was scheduled about one week later. It was like talking to a robot. There was a list of questions she had to ask. Some of them said "while you were a coordinator"...blah blah blah, what system did you use, how many trials did you run. I have never been a coordinator, just a volunteer assistant at a research site. So that's when I knew it was over. They were not going to consider the considerable amount of training I have from other sources, CTA, certificate in clinical trials etc, basic research. I did not fit their slot for correct background, so I got deleted. 5 hours later I got the rejection email. If I did not fit their slot, why did they interview me in the first place? I don't think they read resumes. I think it is all computerized, to an extent.
