      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 3 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez Kiewit Corporation (Calgary, AB)

      Entretien

This was one of the most bizarre interview experiences I've ever had. I was contacted on Linkedin by a recruiter to see if I would be interested in a compensation analyst job. I'm not in compensation so I was a little confused about why I was being headhunted, but there was some overlap between what I currently do, so I continued. Then we had a first phone call about it, then we had a second official pre-screen phone call. Then I had to do an online assessment. At this point, I was not really sure what the deal was because the job wasn't really aligned with my background, but hey if the salary is great and they think I am good for the role, then what the hell. So I came in for an in person interview. This is when I asked what the salary was, I had no idea if this job paid $50,000 or $120,000 and I also had no job description (remember they contacted me). They said they'd get back to me and then they set me up with a second in person interview. I did the second interview and for salary all they told me was it would be "market rate." Whatever that means (remember I'm not in compensation, and am not familiar with "market rate"). They also told me there would be lots of overtime with no pay. And that it would be 25% travel time, with no extra compensation. But that I would get lots of vacation time! But that I wouldn't be able to use it because they are so busy. Wow! Sounds like the worst job in the world. Still having no idea what the job pays and not having seen a job description I went into a third interview. Afterwards they asked for references. And finally they emailed me that I didn't get the job (with no explanation of course). The whole process was very strange. Its hard to put yourself forward and be excited about a position with no job description, not the vaguest idea of what it pays, and when they are telling you to expect long hours, lots of travel time, and no ability to use your vacation. Needless to say when they told me I didn't get it, I was not sad.
