For context I’m non-binary. Everything seemed fine in the interview process and I was offered and accepted the role. Follow up emails ignored my preferred name, the only one I introduced myself with, and addressed me with the government name I only gave them for legal paperwork. I politely withdrew by email and they followed up with phone calls and emails asking me to explain. I told them what the issue was and they doubled down that it wasn’t a mistake but HR’s official policy. I suggested they read the Equal Opportunity Act of 1984 (SA) and reconsider their professional practices.
TLDR: Don’t waste your time if you don’t use your legal name.
