Initial point of contact and the following call with a talent manager were smooth and had me excited about this opportunity. My call with the talent manager was encouraging, and it was obvious she was passionate about her work and the company. After our discussion I felt like I would be a good fit for this position and the next step was to talk to the hiring manager.
Unfortunately, my ensuing call with the hiring manager was not what I was hoping for. It was the worst experience I have had with a companies’ interview process and it makes sense why it has been so hard for Juul to fill this position. The hiring manager was extremely unprofessional, dull, and careless. First of all, he called 10 minutes late and didn’t mention it. Second, he had me on speaker phone. Speaker phone! I asked if he was driving and he said no! So here i am, barely able to hear this man, and the first question he asks is - what are your strengths and weaknesses? Cmon man, put some thought into it! Not once did he ask about my experience, or education. And, allow me to remind you, this is happening on speaker phone and it sounded like he was in another room. Towards the end, i asked relevant questions about the position and he gave vague, disinterested answers. This was a sad experience, and something you don’t expect to see from a young, high growth company like this.
