Laid back and welcoming environment. Felt I could be myself. I was asked about experience and what I would bring to the team. Process did take quite a long time overall. Easy interview and job offered.

Kind of a rushed and chaotic interview process, a little too personal too quickly. Rushed interviews read as desperation! Not great energy over all and definitely skewed and unprofessional, did not give what I was hoping.

Nothing they asked stood out apart from the standard.

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 2 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez Jones Knowles Ritchie (New York, NY) en févr. 2023

      Entretien

All the interviews were a "Vibe" check to make sure I culturally fit in with them. No questions to gain any meaningful insight into my working style or how I deal with difficult situations. They dragged the interview process. My recruiter was flaky and took days to answer a question and days to schedule interviews. I quit my initial job and decided to travel for a few months. I was interviewing at other companies and received 2 other offers. I told JKR I received 2 other offers and asked they make a decision. They made me an offer the next day. I countered and they met that amount and sent me an offer letter, which I signed. I let the other 2 companies know I received an offer I accepted, so the other 2 companies had to move on with their backup candidates. I paid off a huge chunk of debt in prep of starting a new job and booked a flight back to NY to start work at JKR. JKR asked me to sign some electronic paperwork and the due date on one of the paperwork was 'due by Wednesday.' Tuesday came and they kept asking me to sign the paperwork. I was traveling abroad and was hardly at my host's apartment. I wrote back that the paperwork was due Wednesday so I'd sign it on Wednesday. They seemed to think I was late with signing this. This was the first red flag. JKR gave me a start date. Then they asked for me to provide references by XYZ date, so I thought of 3 people I most recently worked with and had good rapport with and used them. I've received literally about 20+ offers in my professional life (freelance and perm), and have never had a failed reference or background check. I asked JKR again about my start date and they became cryptic...they said again that I had to pass the reference check. Okay? No biggie. Then they called me to tell me my offer was rescinded because my reference check failed. I checked with all of my references to find out what happened. 2 out of the 3 references responded to JKR; the 3rd reference didn't respond yet. My 2 references said that JRK asked them 'oddly specific' questions. Both of my references said this, one of my references literally said "...oddly specific questions," and my other reference literally said "...weirdly specific questions," and my references don't know each other. I found out what my references responded with... and I remember working with one of my references while I was struggling through a physical disability, which I have since gone into medical remission, but we had a good rapport (and she even offered me to work with her again on a freelance basis). She said she answered JRK honestly when they asked her one of the oddly specific questions. But I've used her as a reference in the past and I've gotten job offers and started without any issues. Due to JKR rescinding my offer, it set off a horrific chain reaction in my life: - I paid off a huge chunk of my debt and was left only with my emergency fund - I turned down 2 other job offers, 1 offer which was officially written and they even mailed me a goody new hire bag - I came back from abroad early - I ended up having to sublet out my apartment and moved in with the parents of a friend for 3 months due to this - Due to JKR rescinding their offer, my health insurance situation fell into a black hole which I struggled to sort out. This pulled me OUT OF MEDICAL REMISSION and I physically deteriorated for a traumatic period I've since gotten the medical help I needed and have gone back into medical remission, but this experience was traumatic physically and emotionally. The hiring process was flaky and slow, based on a flaky "personality vibe check" (because I already had the credentials so maybe they thought they didn't have to ask me the hard questions), and asked 'oddly weirdly specific questions' to my references
