It was a very simple process. After I applied I called in at the store and notified them that I submitted my application online and we set up an interview. I was hired about a week after my interview,

What are some things you could tell us about yourself?
very easy and quick. just a chat about the job and what it would entail. some questions about prior work experience. was hired the next week as a temporary employee for the closing of the store.
Group interview of 30 people. We all introduced ourselves and what are we looking forward to the most about working at JC Penney and what we are most nervous about. Then he asked a few of us random questions, either our past work experience or why we wanted to work for them. After an hour he sent out about half the group and asked the remaining people a few more questions. You can basically pick which position you want, the store I went to had about 7 different openings. He explained each one and asked us which ones we were interested him. He usually set you up with someone you showed great interest in or where he could see you fitting in. Sent out a few more people and offered the rest of us jobs.
