As a Chinese-born American citizen, I applied to be a project manager in their Beijing office out of interest in living in China. Expressing interest only took a click of a button really. But after that you get a long email describing a series of tests you need to take. If you pass like I did, only then does a recruiter reach out to you. After a successful phone call with the recruiter, I interviewed with the country manager, then a local manager. My luck ran out there since I wasn't able to demonstrate native proficiency in the language (Mandarin).
