I received multiple emails from different contacts after applying. Had to watch a 40min video about the company and take an assessment prior to the interview. I did receive the call for the scheduled interview exactly on time, but nothing positive happened after that. The typical "Tell me about yourself" was the start, asked about my current license (which I got the feeling she didn't know the difference between the multiple different types of licenses in insurance) then asked about my prior roles and asked if I had "written business with carriers". I explained I was a commercial E&S P&C underwriter for 10+ years and the I wrote commercial policies for my clients (agents) direct with many carriers. I got the feeling she didn't quite understand what my prior role actually was (which if you have any experience in the insurance industry, you should be able to gasp the concept of a typical commercial insurance underwriter role) and this feeling was quickly confirmed based on her next questions. She asked "did you write any business directly with carriers" (no mention of specific carriers, lines of business, nothing .. just in general). I said yes and explained it was through my prior employers contracts and that I did not have individual contracts with any carriers. She then explained that "we" would not be able to hire anyone who wrote business with carriers under contracts. I again explained in as much detail as she would allow that that is not how that works, and while I did have a non-solicitation agreement it only applied to soliciting agencies for business my prior employer currently writes and had nothing to do with insurance carriers, she insisted that I was incorrect and that I basically can't write anything with anyone I've ever written business with ever. That's not even a little bit accurate! Before I could even try to explain why that was incorrect, she said "we won't be hiring you, have a nice day" and hung up!! I actually felt insulted!
