Waste of time and energy: the interviewers were not prepared, there were too many similar steps in the process, such as the same questions asked by the same people in each interview. There were no opportunities provided to demonstrate skill sets through work simulations. The organization was uncommunicative, with long periods of silence between interviews.
Some interviewers (staff) shared information about many internal issues:lack of strong management and leadership, the organization's struggles with DEI, racist leadership, hypocrisy around work/life balance, low staff morale.
It is also odd that their CEO is not leaving, despite being with organization for over a decade and being out of touch with current best practices around nonprofit leadership. The CEO is "shifting to a parallel leadership role" and no one could tell me what that really meant in relation to roles and responsibilities. RED FLAG. The CEO needs to leave the organization so new leadership can come in and resolve their internal problems effectively and repair their public image. Keeping a problematic CEO is not a recipe for success, recognize their contributions, thank them and send them packing if their ego is so huge it keeps them from doing the right thing and moving on.
I dropped out of the process and took another job offer.
