      Entretien

First round of interviews went really well. I interviewed with 2 people: both super polite, friendly and asked appropriate questions for the position. The second round of interviews was the exact opposite experience. I interviewed with 2 new people and I was interrogated by them. The position magically went from creating content to post on social media sites, reaching out to bloggers and influencers to develop partnerships, and launching ads to a basic sales job. The creative aspects that were listed in the job description became irrelevant and nonexistent. I didn’t appreciate half of the questions I was asked either because they were unrelated to the job. The attitude from both of the interviewers was unprofessional, rude and condescending. They didn’t ask me if I had any questions for them or talk about the company itself and what it has to offer. By that point, I already decided that I didn’t want to work for this company. Then I met with the CEO, a polite calm man, who confirmed my suspicions. The position was indeed a sales job. I questioned him about the discrepancies of what the interviewers were asking me versus the actual job description posted on LinkedIn. He replied with “I don’t know what the team came up with [...] but there’s this *other* position where we need someone to focus on our line Gabriela. We need someone to go to hospitals and have practitioners sell our products. Is this something you’re interested in?” I politely declined, thanked him for his time and walked out.

First, please let me apologize for some mistakes that we made that contributed to the negative impression you had after the second interview. The people who you interviewed with the second time were not in possession of the job description as per the ad you answered and were therefore thinking they were interviewing you for a different position. The standards, background and type of individual we’d want was completely different for that position. I believe this caused much of the confusion and negative feelings you came away with. The fact that this happened was our fault 100% and not yours. I’m very sorry about how this must have been perceived by you and for us literally dropping the ball like this. Also – when you went to interview with the CEO, he had been informed that you weren’t a good fit (as per above), but felt you might have some applicable skills for a Brand Rep / Sales position we also have open right now. That’s the reason he brought the sales position up with you. He was mostly out of the loop about everything else. So again, I can see how you could have perceived this as a “bait and switch”. If it were me, I’d feel the same and be very upset. All I can do at this point is explain the circumstances so that you might understand what happened, and apologize. We certainly never intended to be rude, unprofessional or in any way provide anything other than a positive experience. We do have many employees for whom English isn’t their first language. Additionally, many of us come from different cultures. I suspect this might have also contributed to any misunderstandings. If you’d like to contact me to discuss any of this, I’m happy to speak with you about it. I was one of the people you met with in that first interview. You can email or call (same contact info as when you applied). Otherwise, again we apologize and wish you the best going forward.
