The interview process was quite messy and unprofessional. The editor forgot to call me like they said they would and then acted surprised and didn't know who I was when I called them. The editor seemed like they were in a rush to get off the phone and thus the call only lasted 10 minutes and they didn't give me a chance to ask questions. Then they said that I would have the editorial test by that night. I never received it, so I emailed them the next day and never heard back. Then I called the following day and they said that I would have it by the end of the week. I never got the test and gave up.

I applied through an employee referral, and was contacted by a recruiter a couple days later. I interviewed over the phone, then was assigned an edit test. A few days after I submitted my edit test, I interviewed with another editor on the team in person in the NY office. A couple days later, I was asked to interview with a staff member higher up on the masthead, again in person, in the NY office. It all went incredibly well; everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Phone interview and first in-person interview were more technical, but the third was less formal and more of a get-to-know-you type of interview. It was all a very standard process, it just took (predictably) a while. I had to wait a couple weeks for a final answer, but everyone was very transparent and professional.
