The interview was three steps:
1. Automated interview: answer multiple questions prerecorded, as well as a code test parsing a sudoku board.
2. Skype style interview: spoke with several team members via a skype tool of their making. Involved personality and technical questions.
3. In persona interview: met with team members, director, and cto.
In the end, the organization declined to make me an offer, stating that my skill set and desire was too mid-back end stack. Every technical question asked invokes mid-back end questions, with the exception of one UI based question, which quickly became a mid-back end discussion. After declining to make an offer, the organization reached back out to chat one more time... then declined to make an offer again. It seems the organization doesn't really know what sort of developers they are looking for and how to go about assessing skills appropriately. They seem like they are building cool products and have a decent personality, but I'd be wary about their interview process, which is ironic considering they build interviewing software.
