      Although Highspot appears to have a capable product and are gaining traction in the market, the interview shed a spotlight on the internals of the company and its culture. I found the process to be quite unprofessional and riddled with incongruity. When I asked the interviewer (C-level exec) how a C-suite of ex-Microsoft leadership impacts the culture of the company which is largely staffed by millennials, the interviewer seemed to be trying overly hard to convince me that the leadership had exorcised all of their evil Microsoft ways, going as far as to say that everyone uses Mac computers instead of Windows, they use Google Docs instead of Office, etc. It was very bizarre that they would so quickly turn their backs on the company that made their careers and that builds one of the primary products (Microsoft Dynamics) that is a host to their parasitic app. When I met with the head of recruiting she started by bragging about how long she had been with the company. She recounted her own interview experience, highlighting her surprise when she walked into her interview to be met/interviewed by “four white dudes in their 50s”. She then went on to tell me about another candidate that had interviewed the day before (for the role I was interviewing for!) and how he had “bombed” and was a "know it all". I was stunned at the lack of professionalism. At the end of the interview, the interviewer and the head of recruiting told me they wanted me to come back the following week to meet others on the leadership team. They then asked me how quickly I could accept a position, indicating significant interest on their part. But once I was out the door I didn’t hear from them again - I'd been ghosted. Although sometimes it's simply not a match, they should at least have the courage and professional courtesy to tell the candidate. Having read some of the other reviews, this seems to be a common theme with Highspot’s recruiting process. As the saying goes, people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. Net-net is that although they gave a lot of lip service to how well the company is being run and that they have a "startup" culture, my take is that a leopard cannot easily change its spots. To that end, it was clear that the senior leadership is still rooted in classic large company arrogance, back-room politics and decision making, and a top-down command-and-control leadership model. While the company may see some success in the market, they’re going to need to make changes in the recruiting process if they plan to attract and retain top talent. I’m thankful to have dodged this bullet.
