First call with an internal recruiter/HR talked about background and experience which went well but was a bit slow to gain feedback and next steps. This eventually led to an opportunity to provide a free design consultation for one of the company's challenges (conveyed as a "design task"). This was presented back to the founders who were very friendly but again I was kept waiting for quite a duration for feedback. It's a reasonably small company so I do understand there's other things that need to be focussed on. I was told by my recruiter it was between myself and another candidate but apparently the company decided not to offer either one of us the position for reasons unknown. This was after another week of waiting and announced around 6:30pm on a Friday evening. When pushing for feedback I was eventually provided with literal copy and paste of the job description but some words changed to say I didn't have these particular set of requirements. Unfortunately I'll never know if this was from my recruiter or the company.
