I applied for the instructor position at Fox Landing at the end of July 2015, for a start date of August 20th. I was contacted for a phone interview about 3 weeks before the start date. I waited for the call at the agreed upon time...came and went... waited another half hour to be sure, then finally had to email the program manager to try to reschedule because he hadn't given any notice that something had come up. A couple hours later he emailed back saying oops he had to attend a meeting, sorry. So we rescheduled for a few days later, now just over two weeks before the start date. First interview went well, about an hour fifteen minutes with a heavy emphasis on personality type, ability to get along with others, and hardly anything pertaining to my background in marine science or education at all.
So I then schedule a second phone interview with the assistant program manager, 10 days before the start date. Which is cutting it really close since getting the job would mean preparing to move to basically a desert island for three months but okay. Did the interview, more questions about if I did drugs, the kind of person I am in different living situations, etc. etc. At the end of the interview I was told I'd hear back at the end of the week, making it exactly one week before the start date. Nothing...more nothing... 2 days before the start date (at this point I had already accepted another job offer and was just curious to see what their excuse would be this time) I emailed them asking what was going on. "Oops yeah sorry forgot. Try again next season." Ha. Yeah right. Too bad about the management from what I've heard - the job itself is rewarding if you don't mind being at a summer camp.
