I knew the interview process would be different for Greenhouse because their product is a recruiting software, but I found the structured phone process to be quite odd and to lack a conversational flow. My first phone interview was set up by an HR coordinator but the woman I spoke to was entirely different. The screening did not really ask any background on me - it just dove straight into rapid fire one by one marketing questions that seemed way too soon this early in the game. In the second interview with the hiring manager, he too asked questions in a very rapid fire fashion that did not leave any room for natural conversation or flow. He even told me in the interview not to worry that he wasn't listening, because he had to write down the answers to each of these questions that he was required to ask. I felt we ultimately did not connect, but I couldn't tell if that was because of me or because of the unnaturally structured interview style. It could also have been the manager's delivery - ultimately left me feeling qualified for the job, but destined to fail at a chance to show my qualifications.
