I had an initial screening with HR where we went through my work history and desired salary, and so on. Then I had two hour virtual interview, one hour with two teams of two back to back. I received a call from HR saying there was very positive feedback and we set up a third, in-person interview. I drove 90 minutes and I figured by now we were done with the canned questions but I was wrong. I was hit with several more, “Tell me about a time in your career when x happened, how did you handle that situation?” I was really hoping to be done with this nonsense, as now you’re just testing my ability to recall specific events, under the gun like I’m a game show contestant, over a 20 year career. Seems to me with many of the questions they asked, that Grainger is more worried about how well you can play the game of corporate politics than how well you can perform the day to day job.
