I have been interested and applied for positions with Grainger in the Washington DC/Baltimore area for the last couple of years. I have years of experience in MRO sales, account, and project management. In each case I was never selected for a position. Most recently I was contacted by a recruiter to schedule a call for a phone interview and I accepted and picked a date. Within a couple of hours I received an email from the same recruiter cancelling our call. They said after checking with the hiring manager whom I've met and interviewed with before that he doesn't see a fit. I have in my estimation (for whatever that's worth) interviewed well and presented a compelling case for why I am a good candidate for any number of roles with this company. I have began to wonder if there is something "else" that prevented me from even getting the opportunity to interview for this most recent position. I will not be pursuing any job with Grainger again and I would not recommend them to anyone.

J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Grainger (Saskatoon, SK) en avr. 2026
Entretien
Initial interview was easy, just asked about what you know about the company and STAR based. Although was told I would be interviewing in the next round and they really put that into my head only to get a one sentence email at 1am saying they went a different direction. Extremely misleading.

Entretien
They asked STAR questions and very template questions just to fill in the pages per the manager. Although it could change since I went through this 6 years ago. They are stock driven, so learn a little about their market price and how they play in the industry.

Tell me a time when you have to make a very difficult decision.

Entretien
They do interviews in the typical STAR format. Very tiring as they ask you a ton of questions. If you can handle that kind of thing you'll be fine but the average interview is like 40 minutes of straight questions.
