      Entretien pour User Experience Designer

J'ai postulé via la recommandation d'un employé. J'ai passé un entretien chez Google

      Entretien

This was a long and very disappointing experience. The interview was fine (friendly, accommodating, helpful people) but there was never any follow-up. It came through a recommendation from a previous co-worker (I freelanced there prior to applying). I did 3 rather short interviews and then prepared with a recruiter for an online full-day experience when I would: 1. Give a 45 min presentation from a deck I created for this interview (Was told I could not just show work from my portfolio but needed to take this extra step). 2. Participated in four Q+A sessions around different topics. (Comfortable conversations that were very enjoyable). 3. Take an hour design test. (Sketch and talk through ideas, nothing outrageous and the interviewer was super accommodating.) After this experience, I was told to expect a call with my results. Two weeks go by and I get an email that the recruiter will call me....but she doesn't. Another email comes a week later, the same message with no follow-up. Then a week after that, the same thing but with a time to talk (during the evening, my time, when I had plans, so I declined). Long story, not so short, I never got a call, or a calendly link (like the way recruiters approach calls that they actually plan to have), nor do I have any sense what my scores were. Obviously, they were not good, but given the amount of time google asked of me, getting a simple form letter stating "nope" doesn't seem like a lot to ask. Also, unless your Debby Harry, please don't say you'll call me on refrain and then not do it. I anticipated rejection but expected it done with some consideration (or at least in a systematic approach). Google asked for a lot of my time, it doesn't seem out of bounds to expect them to follow-up, especially, since I was asked to provide feedback on how I thought my experience was going. Rationally, I know it shouldn't matter whether they send me a no or just ghost me, the result is the same, but it did. Sorry, this became more venting than sharing. Any advice I have is...make sure you really, really, really want to work there before you start this experience. The interview process requires a lot of time and can leave you feeling frustrated. Good luck if you do it! People seem happy there...

I had 3 rounds total. 1st round was with HR, with the remaining rounds being with the Head of Product and the tech teams. The last round was the hardest, as I had to do a portfolio review

3 rounds of tech discussion which I cleared with a positive feedback but suddenly recruiter disappeared and when I reached out for further rounds she mentioned that they have got a internal candidate for this position. Never thought Google will be such an unprofessional organisation.

I didn't make it to the interview part of the process. I highly recommend knowing someone or going through an actual recruiter if you'd like a job at Google. Cold applying online is harder to to secure a job.
