Applied online and was invited to come in for an interview. I was asked to fill out an application before the interview. The application required salary history, which always turns me off, but I completed it and sent it in.
Interview went fine. A week later, recruiter calls me back and says they'd love for me to come in for a final interview, but they're concerned I made a bit more money at my last job than the top of this one's range (which is woefully below market). Mind you I wasn't even making a market rate salary at the last job. I explained that pay wasn't the most important thing, etc. etc. The recruiter said they were still worried that I would start the job there and then leave. He suggested that I draft an email explaining that I'm cool with the salary range and why.
At this point, I'm very turned off with the bizarre compensation negotiation/discussion before I've even finished interviewing. But I write a sincere email anyway. I don't really hear anything of substance from them despite following up a few times, and am eventually ignored altogether by the recruiter.
This company is clown shoes.
