First, I had a Skype interview.
Second, I had a 2 hour interview with 5 staffers.
Thirdly, I met with the VP and one of the Principals.
First and second interviews went swimmingly, the third was a bit awkward but an eye opening experience. The interviewers didn't seem to be aware that I was scheduled to be there, because it is an open office, it was clear to see their disinterest in meeting with me, but perhaps they were busy or had other pressing matters. An act that demonstrated a disconnect in communication in the office. It did leave a bad taste in my mouth and also set a strange tone for how the day would turn out. When they were ready for me, 10-15 mins after scheduled time, the interviewer yelled for me across the hall, I was taken aback for it seemed highly unprofessional. They didn't seem to know much about me which I found entirely odd as it was a third interview. The first conversation following this started of shakey but proved to be productive. The last was odd, the Principal made it clear that he wasn't interested in speaking with me through non verbal cues. It derailed my thoughts, it was a whirlwind, he was in and out of the room for less than five minutes, it ended so abruptly that my mouth was left ajar when I was following him out of the door. I felt disrespected, and felt robbed of my time. The entire process taught me lot about the management, the operations, and about myself. It reinforced the values I seek for in a working environment, it emphasized what I wanted and what I didn't want in a work place - I am very appreciative of that and also happy to have had such an experience as I believe it will help me refine my ways of approaching interviews in the future.
