Applied for a position and was contacted by HR about a month later for a screening call. Next, I interviewed with the hiring manager. The interview was amazing. Got a call back from HR with a verbal offer and wanted to check references. Provided references with amazing feedback. Two weeks later HR calls to inform me that they selected another candidate. Not quite sure how I was verbally offered the job only to be given to another candidate.
