I sent an application to LinkedIn. A recruiter reached out to me and scheduled a time for a virtual screening call. On the call I was answering the questions but the recruiter noted to me that I seemed nervous or a bit off. Maybe it's because I'm socially awkward and autistic? I don't know. Anyway, she said she would present to the client with next steps. A week goes by, I hear nothing, so I email her asking for an update, and she says the client went with someone else. I sent a reply asking about feedback about the process and what I could potentially do better and got no response. Days go by, I try to phone her directly for a response, but it always goes to voicemail. I sent a follow-up email asking for feedback, but again no response. The whole thing just feels incredibly dismissive and dare-I-say ableist. Perhaps I dodged a bullet in the end if this is how the company treats their candidates.
