I was contacted a few days after applying online for a phone interview with someone in HR. Call was ~25 minutes. Mostly questions about the company, what I think the role would involve, my experience in admin and why I want to work in publishing. I was also asked my salary expectation. The interviewer was very nice and led me to believe they were impressed with my research into the company. I was informed within a week I was unsuccessful but without any feedback. Having looked into their current employees on LinkedIn I am under the impression they are after people who have just finished university with generalist subject degrees (e.g. Geography) not related to the specific journal whatsoever - perhaps Frontiers think these people are more likely to stay in the role long-term if they didn't have a specific career in mind when compared to more specialist degrees?

I applied for this job which was originally called "Growth and Outreach Specialist" but was suddenly changed to Journal Development Specialist. Got a reply from HR within a couple of days. Had a screening call for thirty minutes. Was asked by HR to answer the Predictive Index (PI), which, according to her, would "not affect the outcome of my application, but only assist them in making adjustments in handling my application." A few days after the screening call, and after being given the impression I was going to advance to the next round, I suddenly got a rejection letter. Turns out that they didn't like my PI scores/answers and that it did, in fact, affect my application. When asked for feedback, HR did not reply. Honestly, after reading Glassdoor reviews, I might have dodged a bullet.
