The Early Careers Team at Fragomen Dublin are extremely unprofessional in their hiring process. I received an email confirming progression to the second round, which explicitly “included” a one-way interview, an online assessment, and an in-person assessment day. The assessment day was emphasised as a mandatory part of this stage. As a student currently on Erasmus, I completed the required online elements and arranged travel to Dublin at a personal cost of approximately €300 in order to attend and as a student this was a large expense. Crucially, the communication did not make it clear that candidates could be screened out after the one-way interview and before the assessment day without any notification. Based on the information provided, it was entirely reasonable to assume that completing the required components meant progression to the in-person stage. I made multiple attempts to clarify the details of the assessment day as the email did not include the time, I emailed and called the office, but received no response and no result. Then, less than 24 hours before the scheduled assessment day, I received a call informing me that I had not been selected to attend and that It was my fault for assuming I was progressing. At no point prior to this was I informed that I had been unsuccessful, despite actively trying to confirm my status. Then at 6pm after this phone call. I get a email of the “outcome” of my application. This lack of transparency and failure to communicate in a timely manner resulted in unnecessary financial cost and significant inconvenience. While I understand that internship programmes are competitive, this situation was not due to candidate error, but rather a clear failure in communication from the Early Careers Team. Overall, a very disappointing and frustrating experience.
