      Entretien

      I was shortlisted for the role of Senior Consultant where I had to take part in the coding test on Hackerrank. I was new to the hackerrank platform and out of the 90 mins, I spent 20 mins trying to figure out how to run the code and submit them. The test consisted of 8 questions (4 on SQL and 4 on R). I was able to submit my codes on SQL but I wasn't able to complete my codes on R. The results were out the same day and I got a mail from the HR telling me that I didn't make the cut off and that they wouldn't proceed with my candidature. I was surprised because the the JD described many other required qualifications like domain knowledge, experience, solution designing, etc. apart from only coding. I believe that for this level of role or any other senior position, the hiring team should assign weights to each round and come up with overall score and not just reject a candidate based on only coding. If you are looking to hire someone who is proficient in only coding, you must target the right audience. I was taken aback by their selection process, something that's not expected from a reputed firm like Fractal Analytics. I would suggest that the first round should be discussion with candidate on the past work experience and see if he would be the right fit. Then it would make sense to conduct coding/technical round. I'm not writing this to push for my candidature but just to give my feedback.

      Question 1

      From the given data, write a MySql query to join two tables and arrange results in descending order. Another question I remember in R was from the Iris data set where in I was supposed to write a function to aggregate the sum of a variable by different species.
