Entretien
After completing an online application, I was contacted by Fluor's HR team and asked if I would like to attend an assessment centre for the following week. This was short notice to arrange travel and accommodation but I believe this was to observe my commitment to the role that I had applied for. The assessment centre consisted of 2 group activities and 2 interviews. The group activities were made split up into 2 sections. The first of which was a problem solving based scenario followed by a presentation. The problem consisted of a email brief and description of a current project. The brief and email contained multiple problems that the project are facing. The second was a team-building exercise which required the team to work together to design, build and test a roller-costed. The idea behind the roller-costing was to build something that would allow a marble to travel around for the longest period of time. For each activity, the individuals on the assessment centre were split into 3 groups, each group having 4-5 individuals each.
The next part of the assessment centre was the 2 interviews. One of the interviews was with HR staff and the other interview was with technical staff. The HR interview was pre-set questions that were based upon your knowledge of Fluor, why you wanted to join Fluor and examples of your skills (working in a team etc). The technical interview was basically looking through your CV and asking your questions based upon the information with the CV. There was also questions surrounding the job description. but nothing really overly technical.
