      Entretien pour Flight Attendant

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Envoy Air (Irving, TX) en sept. 2019

      Entretien

I arrived at the place where the interviews were being held. I was warmly greeted by American Airlines employees on what to do. I walked into the room and see about 75+ people in line to be fitted for a jump seat and height test by a snobbish male flight attendant. I was noticing if a person was of larger stature or tall, the male flight attendant was taking note on a tablet. After that process, I went into another room to fill out paperwork previously given to me and answer an essay question. An employee then directed me to go into a conference room and mingle with other applicants until the presentation started. They presented what the job entails and about the different aircraft they use. The starting pay is quite low for such limited hours. $18.95 and 75 hours a MONTH. No one in their right mind could afford to live in Miami, NYC, Chicago, or Dallas on that monthly salary. Per diem is 1.90 an hour when away from base. After the presentation, people were given the chance to ask questions. The man who presented was answering the questions in a very snide and sarcastic manner. I didn't get the best vibe from him. Example: "Do flight attendants receive holiday pay?" Answer: "You knew when you signed up for this job that flight attendants must work on holidays and its determined by seniority so uhhhhh no?" Extremely flamboyant and annoying man After questions and answers, groups of 3 were taken to be interviewed by AA recruiters. I noticed a trend for the group interviews (AFTER the interviews were over and left). I saw typical flaws that may have been seen by each applicant like height, weight/fit for jumpseat, tattoos, overall appearance that may have been deemed "bad" for them, which I found discriminatory. Those groups of people were interviewed first. They only asked a handful of questions and not even relating myself to the job or past experience. The recruiters wrote down 1 or 2 words per applicant from what I saw. Very quick and unprofessional in my opinion. After that was over, we were sent back to the conference room and wait. Interviews were still being conducted when another recruiter started calling out names and we were told to come out of the conference room. We were asked to grab our belongings and turn in our name tags. "We will let you know in a few days by email about the positions to be filled" which is code for "Thanks but no thanks" or the "You Suck" email. Overall, I learned that airlines are extremely antiquated with appearance. It may be the law to not discriminate based on appearance but it does still happen. I understand that large men and women cannot sit in small jumpseats and it's for safety but those things can really change. At the beginning, I noticed during the jumpseat fittings that if anyone over an approximate size of 14/16 for women or 34/36 for men, you would not fit. The experience was very appalling. The first group of men and women couldn't be escorted out of the conference room fast enough. Luckily, my original flight was at 8:30 PM (WTF SO LATE) but AA was able to book me for an earlier flight home. That was paid for which was the only good thing about the experience. Envoy Air, do a better job recruiting and do not waste people's time or money. Being out 100 bucks for a hotel room for a crappy interview left a sour taste in my mouth lol

Fairly easy process, there's a large presentation where they present all of the info you'll need, training will be scheduled for the next month from the interview, then they will have a group interview with about 5-6 people and you'll each be asked about 2-3 very generic questions about customer service experiences, values or company knowledge you'll all be sent back in the main room and they will start calling people to "commute" back where they came from (basically means you did not make it) after everyone has been interviewed whoever remains will be offered a CJO, you will be fingerprinted and drug tested on the spot, the hiring manager told everyone if you don't think you will pass bow out and reapply when you are clean, if you wait until they take you to test and refuse it will still count as a positive and you cannot apply to any airline at all. Good luck <3
