Worked through an external recruiter. Was first directed to a convoluted multiple choice assessment with barely enough time to comprehend the questions. Then had a 1.5 hour technical/behavior interview with hiring manager who was extremely critical of my answers. Told me my requested salary was too high and that I was lacking technically. Very abrasive. The hiring manager wanted to continue with the process, which would have included 3-4 more interviews that would include live coding sessions. I declined to continue. Hiring manager was very proud of the company and his team and clearly had a high bar for hiring talent. But he needs to understand that this is not a FAANG company and he will not get the FAANG-level talent he wants for the mediocre compensation and benefits package offered. Especially with this excessive and downright demanding hiring loop.
