      Received a quick email back from the hiring manager several days after applying, which I thought was great turnaround. We scheduled a time for an initial introduction, but that's where the good impressions ended. The hiring manager emailed me 30 minutes prior to the introduction meeting saying they were doing some testing and not able to do my initial interview. No problem, we reschedule for another time. The day arrives and instead of the hiring manager, it was an HR recruiter. They asked basic questions and seems fine. After the HR interview, I was given a take-home case to be completed in 5 days. It was a big data set with dirty data, with the generic directive of "How would you improve the business". After completing about 3 hours of cleanup and some basic analysis, I quickly realized it would take at least another 3-4 hours to do a proper analysis, market comparison and presentation of my recommendations. All in all, I invested about 10 hours for this case. Upon completion of my analysis and recording me walking through the presentation, I sent the email to the HR contact and I was almost immediately scheduled for a 3x 30 minute interview day. Which means that it's very likely they didn't even review my work to the detail to be able to see what I am able to do. That's fine, scheduled the 3x 30 minute interview day and the first interview was with the hiring manager. Immediately, the vibe was not there, with the hiring manager showing up 5 minutes late and repeatedly questioning why I was applying for the role (my background is a combination of entrepreneurial and corporate experience). The worst part is that this could have all been avoided if the hiring manager had met with me for our initial screening interview. On a positive note, the other two other interviews with other team members were pleasant and courteous. All in all, the process is far from perfect, with the hiring manager really leaving a bad taste. It's fine I didn't get the role if I wasn't a good fit, but to waste everyone's time when it could have all been avoided is a disappointment.

      Had a recent interview process that started off fine but ended up feeling like a waste of time. The initial phone screen with the recruiter was positive (straightforward, professional, and gave me a good sense of the role). But the hiring manager interview was… odd. They gave a quick rundown of the position, asked me one question (“tell me about your background”), and that was pretty much it. No real follow-up, no questions about my relevant experience, and no opportunity to actually talk about what I could bring to the role. It didn’t feel like a real interview - more like a box they had to check. So I wasn’t surprised to hear I wasn’t moving forward. Just disappointed that there wasn’t any meaningful conversation or engagement. Felt like a missed opportunity all around.
