      Entretien

I networked with someone looking to hire on his team for a role posted that fit my skills and interests perfectly. I spoke with him, who referred me to arecruiter. The recruiter emailed me a week later asking for a blind challenge assessment (1 page essay) on a specific question, but had no other contact, and didn't answer my questions until I followed up. After a few days, the recruiter emailed saying they wanted me to move forward. She didn't mention what the interview format would be, but after interviewing at DoorDash previously, I knew to expect a 30 min behavioral and 30 min case interview with two other S&O team members. My blind challenge was never raised again. The interviewers were wonderful and the interviews went really well, but they weren't part of the team I would have been joining. After this round, the recruiter emailed me a take home case to work on over the weekend and present to a Senior Director and two other S&O team members who would be part of my actual team. The only advice I got from my recruiter was not to make a deck, but rather put together a word document / Google doc to walk through. I received great feedback during my presentation from the Senior Director (who was the HM and very engaged), but the other two team members seemed disinterested. I moved to the next round, which was two 45 minute behavioral interviews, one with the Senior Director again, and a 45 minute case interview (which had absolutely nothing to do with the role I was applying for, but focused more on one of DoorDash's 3 pronged marketplace). The recruiter and coordinator were a bit disorganized, and rescheduled my original interviews to a time I had specifically said I was unavailable during. It was too much effort to get in touch and move them, since response times were often so long, so I had to rearrange my work schedule to accommodate. I was given great feedback from the case interviewer and other S&O interviewer, though my Senior Director interviewer was 15 minutes late and I didn't feel as though I had enough time to chat with her. I still felt as though the interviews went well and had proved that I had the relevant experience, interest, and fit to be a good addition to the team and hoped I'd make it to the last 30 minute interview round with the S&O VP as a "final fit" interview. I was a bit surprised when the recruiter called me a week later to say they weren't moving forward. She provided me with no feedback and hung up after a 2 minute conversation. It was frustrating, because she hadn't been very helpful during the entire process and refused to share relevant feedback after I had spent 5 weeks going through the recruitment process. I felt as though I was a burden to her and some of the actual team members had a haughty attitude during my interviews that I didn't focus on until after I received the rejection. I even emailed the Senior Director, thanking her again for her time and asking if she had any feedback she could share, and received no response. Looking back, I'm glad I wasn't blinded by my desire to get the role and accept an offer if I received it, because DoorDash's internal processes and systems seem to be in disarray and many of the people seem to have a superiority complex, which is not a culture I want to be part of. I really had high hopes, but was once again disappointed by DoorDash and probably won't apply again, especially after getting so far through the process and not feeling valued at all.

Stardard at first - manager call, case study, etc. Final rounds were bizzare - the recruiter provided actively unhelpful information and questions were incredibly specific for a generalist role (think Amazon-style "tell me about a time when..." but with no associated leadership principles)

Great phone screen with recruiter, followed by a data analysis case study, followed by two interviews (one behavioral, one case) with a peer and the hiring manager. During the case interview, the hiring manager was in a dark room, wearing a baseball cap, and had the camera angled so that I couldn't see them, which felt like I was maybe participating in a psychology experiment. Their description of the job also did not match what the recruiter told me they were looking for. The level of corporate jargon they used when describing the position was so off the charts I had to stifle a laugh.

Recruiter reached out to me and scheduled an intro call. Followed by time-consuming take home analytics exercise. Followed by 3 more interviews that focus on leadership, behavioral, and functional expertise (basic questions about improving delivery times based on reducing waiting times and delivery times, how to get dashers more tips). The functional expertise interviewer (which is the most important interview) was conducted by a Manager aka someone with less experience than the myself, the interviewee. That makes no sense. The questions she asked very extremely specific and awkward. She lost track of time and was unable to ask all the questions she wanted to. If a more experienced interviewer ran the interview it would have been less awkward and efficiently run. Despite everything I mentioned, I performed well and was able to answer her questions. The behavioral interviewer was rather disconnected and rapidly asked questions in a courteous manner. The leadership interview was great and seemed invested. DoorDash champions diverse backgrounds. But get this...all of my my interviewers were from Uber...not so diverse doordash. Lastly, they want to expand in pharma but don't know the difference between pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies... Anyways, I didnt hear back from them after a week so I followed up a received a rejection. I was warned about all the negatives mentioned above (lack of experienced talent, no industry specific expertise, no diversity). I was also warned about the poor culture, work life balance, & poor company outlook. And they nailed every single one. Now I understand why.

      Question 1

We are losing money on deliveries. How do we fix that? How do we improve delivery times? How do we improve fulfillment times?
