It was a pretty average interview process. The hiring manager I met with was gracious enough to offer good overview of the company/team/tech/challenges etc. The second person I was scheduled however was a different story. He obviously is in the position he is in because he rode the coattails of his manager. What stood out to me about this interview was the style. All his questions were leading and if you chose to present a different opinion you spent the next 10mins arguing which I found usual. Cherry on top of this cake was that he chose to ask about a gap in my resume. As a hiring manager myself I understand the motivation for this question in certain circumstances. However in my case the said gap was 20years ago and I have since then had long and prospering career. As a women, being put in a position to answer this very personal question about a gap that was 20y ago was a total turn off. It gave me a quick insight into the kind of people I would be working with and the overall culture.
I think the top level management needs some training in Diversity, Inclusion and Unconscious bias.
