I was super excited about this opportunity, but unfortunately the hiring process was incredibly frustrating to the point where, at the stage of the final interview, I made Deel aware I no longer wanted to be considered for the position. It started very well, albeit slowly — a standard get-to-know-you interview with someone from the Talent team, then meeting with your future line manager to make sure there's a fit, and then a challenge interview where you're asked to show how you'd train salespeople. I passed all of these interviews and was very optimistic — me and the person who I'd be working for got on like a house on fire and the feedback I received from the challenge interview was extremely positive. I was told I'd hear back by the end of the week. I knew my final interview was going to be a culture-fit check with a founder of the company, so I expected it would take some time. Whilst reading the following, try thinking about how you'd feel throughout this experience when you see senior members of the sales team at Deel posting on LinkedIn every other day to welcome new starters by personally tagging them. I hear nothing after one week. I follow-up, and I'm informed that there's been a full company freeze on hiring so they can revamp the process to "improve the candidate experience". Nothing after 2 weeks. I'm assured that the role is still available, and in fact still a priority. I'm given the same explanation that all hiring is frozen company wide (meanwhile, a senior sales leader at the company shares a LinkedIn post saying that all hiring candidates should be given an offer within 2 weeks for a good experience). Same explanation given again after 3 weeks. After 4 weeks, you begin to just think: why would I want to work at a company that, at best, is simply communicating poorly and, at worst, is simply being disrespectful by not explaining the real reasons why nothing has happened for a month? Get ready to laugh at me — I stuck it out another week because I felt this role was so perfect for me and I loved the company mission. So, there's my experience. I've let them know I'm no longer interested in the role. Disappointing, but life goes on — I hope your experience is better than mine.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience as this is incredibly helpful feedback for us, specifically during a period of high growth in headcount, customers, and revenue. We are very sorry to hear that we lost an initially motivated candidate like you whilst we worked on the structure and reorganization of our Customer Success team. The Success team specifically has been working across Product, Engineering, Operations, and Support to build better processes, segment customers, and deliver a better overall experience internally and externally. This did lead to a pause in hiring in order to ensure that we were able to deliver an accurate account of the state of Success as well as deliver an amazing experience in onboarding to the team. Again, we regret that we lost you as a very passionate and motivated candidate, and we apologize that we could not give you a better experience.
