I applied for this position online and was contacted by a recruiter a few days later to schedule a phone interview. Phone interview was about 15 mins and just involved discussing my background and work/training schedules. Since I am a part time post-bacc student taking classes two evenings a week, the recruiter said my potential class schedule might be a concern during training but she would still pass my info along to the manger at the specific site. A few days after the phone interview, I got a call from the site manager for an in person interview. This interview was done via Zoom in light of the shelter in place order due to COVID-19 concerns and my not wanting to get patients/staff sick. The Zoom interview involved the two clinic managers and a clinic manager at a different location. I was asked questions about my background and how I would handle various situations involving patients, coworkers, and managers. My interviewers liked that I asked a lot of questions because I showed initiative (especially asking to schedule the interview via FaceTime to avoid getting others sick), commitment to patients, and being a life long learner. I really wanted this job, especially since my start date wouldn't be delayed by the shelter in place order. I was told I would hear about a decision in 8-9 days but this morning I got an automated email saying I wasn't offered the position. I was surprised as I thought the interview went well and having dialysis experience/certification isn't even a requirement as on the job training is provided. I emailed the clinic manager who contacted me about the in person interview to see if 1) there's anything different I could do were I to apply again and 2) would she offer me the job if the person who is offered declines.
The reasons I imagine I wasn't hired were as follows.
1) potential school schedule: however, I can't help but wonder why I was even invited to an in person interview in the first place given that I was upfront about this with the recruiter AND it was on my resume.
2) they had an internal candidate in mind and were only interviewing me as a formality.
3) I'm using this position as a stepping stone to get clinical experience before medical school in two years, and maybe the other candidates had plans to stay with the company long term. I know that companies sometimes don't want to invest in a candidate who is using a job as a stepping stone, but turnover in entry level healthcare jobs is common. In fact, one of the interviewers mentioned there's a lot of turnover in the position. When I asked why the position was open, I was told that the current PCT was planning to attend nursing school.

Question 1
Tell me about a time you handled a difficult patient
Interesting, the interviewer was very enthusiastic and supportive. They really emphasized communicating calmly with coworkers and helping prioritize tasks. It was a very humbling interview, despite how easy-going the interviewer was.

I applied to DaVita even after seeing many negative reviews from current and former employees, hoping my experience would be different. Unfortunately, it confirmed what I had already read.
Throughout the hiring process, I tried to be as flexible as possible. After completing the first interview as well as a 1.5-hour job shadow (which gave me the impression I was moving forward), I was told they were selecting another candidate because I “wasn’t flexible to float around to different clinics.” I clearly stated to the manager that I was willing to travel to other clinics if needed. Despite that, This explanation felt inconsistent with what I had communicated from the beginning.
The lack of transparency and clear communication made the entire process feel unprofessional and misleading. I invested my time and effort based on expectations they set, only to be given a reason that didn’t align with the facts.
If you are considering applying here, I would advise looking into other dialysis companies first.

The interview process was pretty straightforward. Initial recruiter phone call, on-site preview of the clinic and talk/interview with the facility administrator after. Whole process took about a month or so. Recruiter checked in a few times as well.
