      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 2 jours. J'ai passé un entretien chez DVD Your Memories (Irvine, CA)

      Entretien

Since my interview a few years ago, the process has changed. Initially I had a phone interview with the store manager. After our conversation, he asked if I would be free to come in for an interview, so I came after work that evening. The interview was basic. He tested me on my PC knowledge and had me dabble with some editing software. He showed me around the office and that was pretty much it. They really are a close knit group. It's a few people doing the work of many, so they need intelligent people who will fit in. The great thing is they will train you. The morning following the interview I was asked to come in for a second interview. This time I met with the owner. He no longer owns the company, but he was a good guy and pretty laid back. My conversation with the owner was obviously geared toward figuring our my personality and what I wanted to do with my life. Again, they asked me a few technical questions regarding computers and video, but the important thing was being a good fit for the store and coackable. After the second interview the manager immediately called my supervisor at the time to get a reference. He called me back about twenty minutes later and I had the job. Now, keep in mind this was a few years ago. I no longer work for the company, but I can tell you the hiring process has changed. I quickly shot up the company ladder and by the end of the first year I was the lead editor and store manager. Hiring went from a few questions an two interviews to a 20 minute phone call where you're asked a number of software and hardware related questions. If you can make it past the resume/phone call, it's all on you from there. The interview process, when I was working as the manager and hiring new employees, was the most thorough I've ever seen. The interview takes anywhere from 1-2 hours. They will test your technical skill in the given area you are applying for, you will play games, take a typing test, explain your knowledge of Mac and PC (if you have built a computer, you should be fine). The key thing is not to get frustrated. It's a long process, but just remember the person interviewing you doesn't want it to take all day either, so answer quickly and honestly and just say pass if you don't know the answer to something.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

I honestly can't remember anything that was out of the ordinary. When I was hiring, we had a 3-4 page document that needed filling out and most people were surprised when we started quizzing them on their gaming habits. If you're not a gamer or a nerd of some kind you will not fit in.
